▼ This review features Modun Core’s new model kit, Zhao Yun. In addition to the main figure, it also includes a Yulan White Dragon Steed, both equipped with alloy skeletons.

▼ Height comparison: approximately 26 cm tall.

▼ This kit does not include stickers, as all parts are color-separated. The metallic sections (gold and silver) are pre-painted using sheet spraying techniques, while other sections feature molded plastic colors. Additionally, many transparent parts are used on the main body, with some having a layer of silver paint on the back to enhance their texture. The color separation is executed remarkably well. The design follows a familiar style, with sharp and angular armor. Thanks to the built-in metal skeleton, the structure remains stable even at a height of 26 cm, providing a solid and secure standing posture.

▼ The head design gives the impression of having four eyes, with two additional ones on the helmet. The eyes, dragon whiskers, and the gemstone on the forehead are made of transparent parts.

▼ The back is adorned with long, flowing blue transparent hair.

▼ The hair is connected via ball joints, allowing 360-degree rotation. It exhibits an S-shaped flowing design, but the internal parts have hollowed sections, lacking a sense of layering.

▼ The overall design features a tapered waist, with the chest and waist occupying a relatively smaller proportion of the body. This area is also less sharp in design compared to the rest of the figure. When bending forward, the back has parts that fill in the gaps to maintain the aesthetic continuity.

▼ The forearm armor is relatively smooth and rounded, with minimal sharp edges.

▼ The front skirt armor is one of the few areas that reflect ancient elements. The decorations on both sides of the skirt seem to be inspired by tassels.

▼ The alloy skeleton in the legs is very tight, making it quite difficult to move. This part could use some optimization.

▼ The spikes on the entire foot are overwhelming, and since posing often requires frequent adjustments to the foot’s position, you’re almost guaranteed to get poked with every move. The spikes on the soles are particularly sharp.

▼ The armor on top of the foot can be lifted to a significant degree.

▼ When moving the head, be mindful of interference with the shoulder armor on both sides, as tilting the head sideways may easily collide with the shoulder armor.

▼ The chest and waist have good articulation, allowing for a significant forward bend. Side tilting and backward bending are moderate, while the rotation range is quite extensive.

▼ The arms can be raised sideways up to 90 degrees, and rotation is smooth without any resistance.

▼ The shoulder joint features an outward extension design.

▼ Forward kick and side kick movements are supported.

▼ When bending the knee, there are two points of linkage: the thigh armor slides downward, and the knee armor shifts position.

▼ The scabbard carries a touch of classical style, but the sword blade has been turned into a lightsaber-like design. It feels like a solid metallic-colored blade would be more fitting for an ancient warrior.

▼ The handle is made of plastic and features an opening on one side to fit the gripping hand. The grip is very secure, but with such a long plastic rod, it is likely to bend over time.

▼ Installation requires removing two small parts on both sides. It is recommended not to fully insert these parts during assembly, as they can be very difficult to remove afterward.

▼ The stand can be reassembled into a support stand used for horse-riding poses. This stand incorporates some metal parts, providing higher support strength. As of now, it seems capable of supporting both Zhao Yun and the horse without any issues.

▼ The horse’s design is quite similar to the horses from the previous finished series, with a roughly identical silhouette. Compared to Zhao Yun, the sharp edges on the horse are significantly reduced, making it more suitable for handling. Except for the head and neck, the entire body has a built-in metal skeleton, which is sufficient to support its massive size.

▼ The head is equipped with armor, giving it a fierce appearance. The eyes are painted in metallic colors.

▼ The mouth can open widely.

▼ Reins can be attached using connectors. They are made of coated metal wire, allowing for flexible shaping.

▼ The angle can be adjusted by rotation.

▼ The neck has a multi-segment structure.

▼ Each segment has an extension mechanism, enhancing its articulation.

▼ The blue transparent mane pieces contain silver components inside, giving them an excellent texture.

▼ The horse’s head is articulated.

▼ It can tilt slightly to the side.

▼ Rotation is possible.

▼ It features tassels, similar to Zhao Yun’s skirt armor.

▼ The chest armor can be pulled forward slightly.

▼ When pulled out, it enhances the range of motion for lowering the head and moving the front legs.

▼ The horse’s legs have a complete internal skeleton, ensuring stable standing.

▼ The hind legs are stronger than the front legs, aligning with real-life anatomy.

▼ The torso features alternating colors of gray and white, creating a contrast. In terms of design, it is not a single flat surface; there are several elevation changes, and the engraved textures are quite detailed and rich.

▼ The back can be equipped with a saddle.

▼ The saddle can be equipped with interchangeable connectors for Zhao Yun.

▼ The weakest areas are covered with multiple layers of armor.

▼ The tail is made of blue transparent parts, connected via a ball joint. It is loose and prone to falling off.

▼ The part on the rear can be detached and used to insert the stand.

▼ In terms of product size and color separation performance, it undoubtedly offers excellent value for money within its price range. However, there is room for improvement in the assembly experience and runner layout. Some parts of Zhao Yun’s plastic components and metal skeleton fit too tightly, while the fit of the horse is much smoother. With over 100 runners, many same-colored runners only contain a few parts, leading to significant time spent searching for the correct pieces during assembly.

▼ The metal skeleton’s firmness and articulation are decent, providing stable performance. After attaching the outer armor, the fit is precise, with no issues of loose or easily falling parts. However, the sharp design of Zhao Yun’s outer armor somewhat affects the playability. In contrast, the horse provides a much smoother and more enjoyable handling experience.
