▼Recently received the first fully framed assembly model "1/100 MG Charon Model Kit (sample)" from Mecha Core Industry. From official announcement to sample in hand, the turnaround was about 2 months, showing the manufacturer's swift action! The sample received is from the initial pre-order batch, with transparent parts modified to glow in the dark. Today, let's get an early look!

▼Assembly took approximately 7 hours, with 25 lanners and a rich assortment of components. Currently, the joints and assembly of the sample are somewhat tight, which generally enhances stability.

▼The base features transfer-printed patterns exclusive to the initial pre-order, with a design highlighting Karong's side profile adorned with various blue stripe blocks. It would be even better if similar water decals were included on the body.

▼The initial special feature of glowing transparent parts changes the color to cyan-blue while maintaining high transparency.

▼After exposing the parts to a desk lamp for about 10 minutes, turning off the lights reveals a noticeable glow effect.

▼Though they are glow-in-the-dark parts, they also fluoresce under UV purple light, exhibiting a glitter effect after exposure.

▼The frame and weapons are molded in three different shades of gray.

▼Panel details exhibit a high level of sharpness, with gate marks following standard concealed design practices.

▼The included etched pieces come with built-in adhesive backing, eliminating the need for additional glue.

▼Official edition features fluorescent decals.

▼The total height of the body is approximately 21cm, featuring a multi-part color separation and clean, detailed representation. The mech's build is robust and muscular in appearance; however, the shoulder armor and ankle guards are slightly oversized, which may seem disproportionate depending on personal preference.

▼The mech's core design includes a complete internal frame, with detailed sculpting enhancing proportions when compared to wearing external armor.

▼The contrasting light and dark gray molding colors significantly enhance the visual detail of the frame.

▼Metal etched pieces are integrated within the frame, with only the shoulder armor side panels remaining exposed after donning the external armor.

▼The mech retains layered angular details to enhance depth perception, featuring deep engraving lines that create sharp effects even without paint washes. The head sculpt, due to its wide and low antenna visor, conveys a serious demeanor; adding metallic paint to the eye area can further elevate its appearance if desired.

▼Utilizing a dual-joint neck, the head enjoys a wide range of motion for tilting up and down. The chest and abdomen can articulate approximately 35 degrees, with hydraulic rods on the waist sides displaying linked movement.

▼The arms can extend horizontally to 90 degrees, with independent pivot joints at the upper arm and elbow.

▼Shoulder joints extend outward, providing additional reach.

▼Missiles and beam cannons are concealed above the shoulder and chest armor.

▼Each skirt armor can lift outward to accommodate leg articulation.

▼Leg joints allow for bending exceeding 90 degrees, with linked movement in the thigh and calf areas. Due to multiple linkages, the thigh joints provide a firm feel.

▼During kicking motions, the hip joint extends downward, though no locking mechanism is present here.

▼Using these joints, standard single-knee kneeling poses can be achieved.

▼With the addition of the backpack, the fully armored configuration positions the winged backpack behind the shoulder armor, alleviating visual concerns of oversized shoulder armor when standing. However, during movement, there may be interference between the backpack and shoulders, necessitating caution when posing. Thanks to sturdy leg joints, the installation of a large backpack allows for stable standing.

▼The backpack consists of interconnected weapons, with each weapon featuring universal sockets. Using the included universal joint connectors, weapons can be customized according to personal preference.

▼In addition to freely assembling weapons, rearranging the backpack weapons for a personalized appearance, such as asymmetrical effects, yields impressive results, albeit posing challenges in maintaining stability while standing.

▼The stand design is conventional, allowing for extension and contraction, but it can only be attached under the backpack and not under the mech's hips. Even when extended, the stand's height effect remains somewhat insufficient.

▼Though the top axis of the stand employs a ratchet structure, considering the combined weight of the body and backpack, actual support effectiveness is less than ideal. For mechs equipped with large backpacks, a stand with a locking buckle mechanism would be more practical.
